Art and Photography Competition
IRFAR Member organization, Salam Al-Rafidain Organization for Peace with the support of the IRFAR and the Religious Freedom Institute is hosting a Photography and Fine Art Competition under the theme of “Promoting Religious Freedom, Diversity, and Peaceful Coexistence in Iraq.”
The objective of this activity is to introduce the historical and cultural heritage and heritage of the ethnic and religious communities in Iraq through photographs and artwork in order to promote a culture of diversity and religious freedom.
In addition to the competition, an exhibition will be held with the participation of artists, organizations, and others to encourage the efforts of governmental and non-governmental, local, and non-local stakeholders to preserve the aspect of diversity as an essential part of achieving social justice.
The activity will use the photographs to provoke discussion and debate about the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of all ethnic and religious components as a cornerstone in achieving long-lasting peace in Iraq.

Selection process:
The project uses a mixed-method to select the winners. The first method will be through collecting the public votes who will vote for the best photos. Second a panel of judges of experts will also select the best photos. The same method will be used for the fine art competition.
Fine Art Participation Terms:
1. The subject of the painting must be committed to showing ethnic diversity and religious diversity in Iraq, and supports freedom of religion, belief, and diversity, based on citizenship and non-discrimination.
2. We will not accept any painting that incites directly or indirectly to violence and hatred or infringement of human dignity, in any form.
3. Works are accepted in color, white and black
4. The artist has the right to participate with no more than three paintings as a maximum
5. The painting shall be in dimensions (60 cm x 80 cm).
6. The paintings shall be delivered at the office of the "Rafidain Peace Organization" in (Baghdad / Karrada) or sent as a parcel.
7. The picture of the painting can also be sent to (email or telegram) for inspection of the painting before it is delivered.
8. A certificate of participation will be granted to all owners of paintings that meet the conditions and criteria mentioned in this announcement, and (cash prizes) will be allocated to the first three paintings that will receive the largest number of likes according to the opinion of the public and the judges, where the paintings will be published on the Facebook account of “Salam Organization” Al-Rafidain” and allowing a period of (15) days to vote by affirming admiration for each painting, and stimulating discussions about each painting will be important in calculating the winning paintings.
9. The painter shall put a number/serial and a title for each painting, with a brief explanation of no more than two lines for the message it carries.
10. The organization has the right to publish pictures of the paintings participating in the exhibition, and to publish them on its websites, with reference to the painting’s ownership rights.
11. The date of the exhibition, the announcement of the results and the delivery of participation certificates and prizes will be announced later, and through the same outlets through which the competition was announced.
Photography Participation Terms:
1- The theme of the photos must be committed to the cultural diversity of the religious and ethnic components in Iraq, including customs, traditions and religious rituals, language, historical sites, fashion, etc.
2- Photos will not be accepted if directly or indirectly incites violence, hatred, or prejudice to human dignity, in any way
3- Photographs are accepted in color, white and black
4- The photographer is entitled to participate with a maximum of four photos only.
5- The photo must be free of any signature, mark, or reference for any reason.
6- It is not allowed to share any image on which any modifications or improvements have been made using any program such as photoshop or others, and only (changing the lighting of the image, or cutting part of it) is allowed.
7- Photos should be sent to the (email, or telegram account) below, in JPG format, with a resolution of (300 pixels)
8- Photographers will receive certificate for their participation that meet the conditions and criteria mentioned above.
9- The first three winners in the completion will receive cash prizes
10- photos that receive the largest number of likes according to the opinion of the public and the jury, where the photos will be published on the Facebook account of the “Rafidain Peace Organization.” And allow a period to vote by pinning the likes for each photo, and to provoke discussions about each photo will be important in calculating the winning photos.
11- The photographer must put a number/sequence and a title for each photo, with a brief explanation of no more than two lines for the message they are carrying.
12- The "Rafidain Peace Organization" bears the costs of printing the photos that are selected to participate in the competition and exhibition.
13- The organization has the right to keep copies of the photos participating in the exhibition, and to publish them on its websites, with reference to the photo’s ownership rights in the name of the photographer.
14- A specialized committee will review the photos received during the specified period, sort the photos that meet the conditions and criteria specified in the above, and then choose from among them (70) works / photos to participate in the competition and exhibition.
